An autumn day described in a short story as,
“sunny in the middle, and frosty around the edges.”
Sometimes it can be tricky to dress to the season's weather.
Today's post will be all about shopping. I'll give you shopping suggestions for tops, bottoms, jackets, and footwear. So if you hadn't yet the chance to refresh your closet or don't know what to shop for, don't worry I got you covered. In my last posts I covered the latest trends, I gave you style advice and I shared my inspiration albums and boards. If you are interested in any of that, feel free to check them out by clicking on the buttons below.Fall 2018 TrendsStyle TipsStyle InspirationFashion Digest
I sincerely hope that you find this useful.
In store you have a lot of options to choose your outerwear. This particular season you can buy yourself a shearling jacket, which will keep you warm during the whole Fall/Winter season. Sure it's a bit costly but you have to look at it long term. You'll wear it, for sure, for the next 3-4 seasons. And it's made out of very durable material. A real shearling jacket is made out of actual lamb skin +/- suede and leather (But you can find faux shearlings too). If you want something long term this a good choice. Shearlings can be found in ZARA, ASOS, Acne Studios, Topman, to name the few. Other than that you have your typical leather jackets (if you don't have one, then I don't what are you waiting for.) Suede jackets are also a popular pick for outerwear this season. And in the jackets category, last but not least, you can shop for a nice raincoat. Tech-wear and jackets out of synthetic materials are MAJOR this year + you won't be wet.
As for the coats, in stores you have your usual classics to choose from. If you don't have a nice coat you can opt-in for a brown one, because brown is one major trend this Fall. If you don't like to wear colored clothing you can buy yourself a grey or black one. And if that's too boring for you can try to play with patterns like salt n' pepper (which will never be out of style), a pinstriped one, a checked one would also be a good pick (checked pattern is a major trend too) As I said before for shearlings, the same applies here, you'll wear a coat for almost 5 months. Good places to shop coats are depending on how deep is your pocket. You can try them at high-end low-end stores, vintage, second hand and in thrift stores.
It's time to move to shirts, sweaters, hoodies, tees....
When it comes to tops. Nothing has changed in regards to previous years, in stores you have your classic choices. But I would if I hadn't had the chance, buy myself t-shirts that have the 90's element. If you don't like that you buy a band tee - because I've seen tons of band tees in Bershka, PULL&BEAR and in NewYorker. (time to bring my old Tokio Hotel tees, yay :D.) If you don't like any of what I said you try out some colored shirts (in regards to that try to look for darker and deeper hues.) Planning on buying hoodies? Try again with the 90's trend, look for logo hoodies of Champion and FILA - best places to that are vintage and thrift stores.
For the shirts (this year) flannel and checked patterns are the only things you should look out for.
Next up are sweaters and jumpers, and honestly, nothing is really standing out in here. If you don't have one or if your cat has scratched your old fugly jumper (I don't blame her, those are the worst), then try to buy one less fugly. Sweaters also vary in size knit, pattern, color... Try to look out for thinner sweaters, possibly brown, creamy or just black. other colors are fine too, but if you are looking to rock that knit try out the ones with the mentioned colors first. Most stores offer a wide variety of sweaters, so there's that only thing is I wouldn't shop knit at NewYorker, Primark, Koton because their sweaters are pure horses**t.
I won't bother you with pants. In stores, you have a huge selection of all kinds of pants that are worth checking out. Planning on buying Jeans? Look out for darker colored ones, try to avoid ripped jeans and lighter washes. Look out for the fit too, regular and slim ONLY. If jeans are not your thing you try out chino pants, the only thing you should out here is color, brown-dark orange, and creamy tones are allowed. Lastly patterned pants can come in consideration if they are made out of wool. Check OR pinstripe patterned.
You have quite a selection here as well.
You have a wide range of random types of boots to choose. This particular season look out for chealsea boots (made out of leather and suede), chukka boots (made out of leather), and chunky hiking boots. If you plan on buying sneakers, look out for leather sneakers, they will not make your feet wet when it starts to pour.
Til' next time
Stay tuned for day five! Also, I stopped naming places where to shop for, because it became repetitive. You can buy most of these clothing items in Topman, Zara, Acne... you get the jist. I'd say shop where you usually shop at, it might be harder t find some items in thrift and vintage stores.
